Buttner has not been a regular starter for United, he is 25-year-old and has played 147 games in his entire football career. The Dutchman wants regular time on the field which he could not get at United and even with the arrival of new Dutch manager Louis van Gaal, he seems to be out of his plans for the new season.
Louis van Gaal already knows him very well as he has overlooked him many times at the time of international games.
Buttner told De Telegraaf: “Van Gaal never gave me the chance in the Dutch national team, despite being voted man of the match 14 times at Manchester United.”
Buttner was bought in 2012 from Vitesse by Alex Ferguson as a backup for the French left back Patrice Evra. The 25-year-old played only 28 games for United in his two years of spell.
