Mathieu Flamini is set to return from a leg injury he suffered few weeks ago. The Frenchman missed two games for the Gunners.
Spanish left-back Nacho Monreal remains out with his back injury. Kieran Gibbs will again be starting at the left-flank. Francis Coquelin replaced Gibbs against Southampton in a Capital One Cup game few days ago.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed that winger Theo Walcott is still out for a match and will return next month. He has been out since January; he picked up a knee injury against Tottenham in a FA Cup game.
While summer signing Mathieu Debuchy and French striker Olivier Giroud are out with long-term problems.
Wenger confirmed that only Mathieu Flamini is the player returning this weekend.
He told club’s official website: “The only difference compared to Villa and Southampton is that Flamini might be available again. He had a dead leg. I feel he should be back.
“Everyone else is similar to where they were. Monreal is not back yet. The likes of Giroud, Debuchy and Walcott are unavailable.”
Wenger rested several key players in the midweek Capital One Cup fixture. Summer signing Danny Welbeck, midfielders Mesut Özil and Aaron Ramsey, center-backs Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker will be fully fresh for the derby.
