Kompany who himself signed a five-year new deal few months ago now wants his teammate Toure to put pen to paper.
Strikers Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko, attacking midfielders David Silva and Samir Nasri and defender Aleksandar Kolarov all signed new deals recently.
Toure was strongly linked with a move to Paris Saints Germain in the summer transfer window. Real Madrid were also in the queue but the Ivorian midfielder made it clear that he is happy at City.
The 31-year-old has a contract till 2017 but the Belgian center-back Kompany wants him to sign a new deal to keep him for a long time.
Kompany told the Sunday People: “What matters most is not that I signed. It is that David Silva, Samir Nasri and Aleksandar Kolarov did the same. Now, it’s not far off for Yaya as well.”
Star players signing new deals is a very positive and good sign for the club according to the skipper.
Komapny has been playing to City since 2008 and has committed for a long term future.
He further added: “I’ve had a strong relationship with City for years and the decision to extend was normal. I’m looking to the future.”
Yaya Toure came to Manchester City from Barcelona in 2010. He has scored 51 goals in 185 games for the Citizens. He has won two Premier League trophies, FA Cup and a League Cup trophy since 2010.
Junaid Effendi follow him on Twitter, Facebook and Google Plus.
