Premier League side Manchester United are still hoping to seal the deal of Borussia Dortmund star defender Mats Hummels according to Daily Express.
However, it was also reported that that German centre-back will prefer a move to Arsenal who are also interested in his services.
Manchester United new boss Louis van Gaal has also targeted several other defenders. Gerard Pique (Barcelona), Bruno Martins (FC Porto) and Ron Vlaar (Aston Villa) are reportedly on LVG’s radar.
Ron Vlaar has been a top target of van Gaal as he has already worked with him and he will not cost him much. While other names including Hummels will not come easily.
According to German sources, Hummels is likely to take place of his German mate Per Mertesacker who is now 30.
The 25-year-old has a worth around £30million and might be leaving in January.
Hummels has made 236 appearances for the German side since 2007. Currently, he is out with a foot injury
Both the Premier League sides are having defensive problems this season and are looking to bolster their squad in the winter transfer window.
Manchester United will offer Hummels a big package as compared to the Gunners but depends on the player who has to choose his next destination.
