The Costa Rican who played a great part for his country in the World Cup campaign will spend the rest of the season at Villarreal.
Arsenal agreed to loan him out after agreeing a £11.3million deal for defender Gabriel Paulista.
The 24-year-old is Arsenal’s second winter signing after star midfielder Krystian Bielik who joined for £2.4million last week.
Campbell was linked heavily with a loan move, however was denied to leave by Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger. The French boss had to change his mind in order to seal his second winter move.
This will benefit Campbell as he can gain some experience to get a regular place in the starting eleven of Arsenal.
The 22-year-old striker made only countable appearances for the Gunners this term due to the presence of senior striker Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck. He has made only four Premier League appearances so far this season and all were from the bench.
