Former Liverpool player Michael Owen has explained why he chose Alexis Sanchez the man of the match for the yesterday’s Arsenal game against Liverpool.
Owen who was co-commentating the Premier League game between Arsenal vs Liverpool yesterday for BTSport has revealed that there were not many star performers for Arsenal.
Arsenal scored four goals to grab the vital three points against the Reds. Hector Bellerin opened the goal scoring followed by Mesut Ozil’s free kick, Alexis Sanchez’s super striker and Olivier Giroud curler.
Owen told BTSport after the game: “I don’t really think that there are too many outstanding candidates.”
He chose the Chilean not for his cracking goal but also his work rate was exceptional throughout the game.
“I am going to go with Alexis Sanchez. He scored a cracking goal and his work rate has been outstanding.”
Mesut Ozil and Francis Coquelin were also key performers yesterday but it was Sanchez who won the heart of the former Manchester United and Real Madrid striker.
Sanchez who scored the third goal has scored 14 goals in 28 Premier League games so far this term.
The former Barcelona attacker had three shots with a passing accuracy of 83%. He made three key passes and three crosses and tried to dribble past opponents five times in the game.
Arsenal are now on second spot just behind Chelsea, however, Manchester City have a game in hand and could take their second spot back when they face Crystal Palace tomorrow.
