Liverpool are set to fight Manchester United in the race to sign Lazio playmaker Lucas Biglia, according to latest reports from Metro.
The Argentine midfielder played an impressive role for the Rome side in last season. Lazio finished third in the league last term.
Manchester United were in a strong link with player’s agent and the club but did not show any interest seriously, but now it is expected that the Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal is likely to be offering a good amount in the coming transfer window.
Biglia who has now become an important part for Lazio is now planning to leave the club for better football and a Premier League could be his destination.
The 29-year-old joined the Italian side from Anderlecht in 2013. He has made more than 50 appearances in the Serie A for Lazio since his move.
The Argentinean has made only six appearances in all competitions so far this season.Columnist: Simon Oates
