Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Spanish midfielder Mikel Arteta will not return this month despite of predicting in the past that he will out for few weeks.
Arsenal skipper Mikel Arteta suffered a calf injury in a Champions League group game against Borussia Dortmund last month.
Arsene Wenger revealed that time that he will be out for two-three weeks but currently he is not ready for a return and will remain out for the whole month.
Wenger updated Arteta’s status in the recent press conference, he said: “He's progressing well. He had a little setback and will not play before January.”
Arsenal will face Queens Park Rangers on the Boxing Day but will once again suffer in the midfield.
Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere and Mesut Ozil are already out till the New Year and now Arteta has also joined them.
Wenger further added that Arteta is working very hard, he is expected to be back in the first week of January.
Summer signing David Ospina, veteran Tomas Rosicky and youngster Yaya Sanogo all are fit to feature for the coming QPR game while duo defenders Laurent Koscielny and Hector Bellerin are expected to face West Ham United on Sunday.
