Manchester United are just one step away from the signing of AS Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman, according to Italian agent Matteo Materazzi.
Matteo Materazzi believes that the deal is almost done but Manchester United are just one step away from signing the Dutchman.
Materazzi told Italian media Rai that both the sides have agreed verbally but they are waiting for the right moment to announce. Personal terms need to be sorted out only now which is expected next month.
Materazzi said: “Manchester are one step away from Kevin Strootman.”
“The British club will pay €40m [£32m] into the coffers of the Giallorossi [Roma].”
Manchester United have been in link with Strootman since the summer. However, he failed to move to England due to the injury but now he is fit and reports already claimed few weeks ago that Strootman will soon be at United.
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has already expressed his desire to sign Strootman in the past. The Dutchman who picked up a knee injury in the summer not only delayed his Red Devils move but also missed his first World Cup.
Strootman, 24, has started only one Serie A game this season. Intotal, he has only made three appearances for the Italian side so far this term.
Reports have also claimed that Benfica midfielder Enzo Pérez is also on United’s radar despite of Strootman strong link.
