Immobile joined the German side last summer after impressing in Serie A last season with Torino. He scored 22 goals in Serie A last term.
Liverpool are already suffering with striking problems despite of having three senior strikers. Mario Balotelli has failed to fulfil the expectations while Rickie Lambert has not enough quality. Daniel Sturridge who has missed most of his games this season due to injuries is the only striker from whom a goal can be expected, however, he is not in his top form at the moment, may be due to injuries.
The Reds surely need a goal machine like Immobile who has been struggling with playing time in Bundesliga.
The German side are also reportedly planning to sell him in the summer for a fee around £17million.
The 25-year-old has scored only three goals in 19 league appearances but was superb in Champions League campaign, he netted four in six games.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are also keeping tabs on Porto striker Jackson Martinez.
